This ride takes you to one of the highest points in Augusta County (Reddish Knob 4397 ft) and straddles the border between Virginia and West Virginia.  The main portion of the climb is the last 10 miles which is on a steep and narrow road with some rough sections near the summit. Expect and be prepared for extreme weather conditions all year long.  The parking lot at the summit yields a spectacular panoramic view of the Shenandoah Valley and the surrounding mountains.

Timberville to Goshen Pass. Although traveling on primary roads, this ride will give you a look at the "other" mountain ranges in the southern part of the Valley. Once past Churchville you will have the Great North Mountain on your right. Keep an eye on traffic because there are many places where the shoulder is small. Mostly this is a jaunt straight down the Valley without major climbing. Goshen Pass, going east on RT 39 from Goshen is beautiful and well worth a few extra miles.
